About

Greetings and welcome to my humble blog!  My name is Alison and this little space is about my life in general, with the odd musing and recipe thrown in.

My family – Mr.43, Mr.5, and Mr.2, are of course mentioned quite often.  The four of us, along with a cat and a goldfish, live in an old weatherboard cottage near the beach in Melbourne.  Life is good in this city, and being by the bay makes for a lovely existence.

I’m afraid I can’t offer you gorgeous images of wonderfully styled kids’ rooms, or artful foodie shots.  I suck at taking photos, so shamefully, I tend to steal other peoples’ images, and stick to the writing bit.

What you will find, though, is honest and (I hope) unpretentious thoughts from a working Mum making the most of life, figuring it out one day at a time!

Whilst I value my family above all else, I also value 10-minute sleep ins, cups of tea that I manage to drink before they go cold, cat naps, sun, skinny lattes, everything vintage, reading, baking, the great outdoors, the fact that there are two specialty chocolate shops within a 5km radius of my home, pottering about like a retired person, and finding small snippets of time to write.

Thanks for visiting!

  1. What a lovely little blog! I’m so glad that you were featured on Freshly Pressed [congrats] so that I was able to discover it.

  2. I just found your blog through the “Fresh Press” on the wordpress homepage. I don’t know how to sufficiently describe my contentment in finding and reading your blog. Several, accurately 99%, of your interests, musings, hobbies, and philosophies in your life really parallel mine. It just comforts me so much to know (and be able to read and say, “Oh yeah! Touche!”) there really is such thing as a simple life, in which many times our happiness comes from the simple things in daily life. I’m seeking for that passion that will drive me to anything and nourish my soul and spirit. By reading your blog, I get this feeling of assurance that yes, what I want in life is out there, it just comes by in the most surprising ways, and when I encounter it, it is a satisfying feeling that is priceless.
The thing is, I really see myself like you in the future, ideally of course. Gosh, I’m only sixteen! I shouldn’t get too ahead of myself. But still, it’s awesome to find someone like you who I can agree and relate to with ideas, thoughts, and pursuits with.
    Thank you soooo much!
