Friday 6th January we went to Ashcombe Maze, near Red Hill, for the first time. It was such a lovely outing. We all loved the big hedge maze, getting lost and getting stuck in dead-ends…it was really fun. Loved the weathered teak chairs, rose and lavender gardens, and it was a pleasure watching the boys run around the paths, looking at the little ponds with fish, the bees on the lavender. I just love them so, so much.
The gardens were beautiful, and they had a woodland where James searched for gnomes and fairies in the trees. He had a clipboard and pencil and copied the names of the gnomes and fairies himself (eg. Eucalyptus), letter for letter fitting the names neatly on the small spaces provided. He’s really ready for school and reading and writing now.
It was just a lovely place, and we had a great day out together.
