I think after my last woeful post, what I needed was a fairly good slap to snap me back to my usual self. But what worked equally well was watching some comedy that had me in tears – tears of the right kind.
Last night I started off by watching Nigella’s breasts again, which seemed to manage to cook a variety of Christmas recipes all on their own. It’s not considered comedy of course but I find them – her – them? – very amusing and entertaining, and rather bewildering all at the same time.
Then I watched The Grumpy Guide to Christmas (BBC), during which I shed a few tears of laughter. Russell Kane appears on this show, and if you haven’t seen any of his stand up comedy (he’s been out here for the Melbourne Comedy Festival in recent years), he does has a DVD, but you can watch a bit of him here, here and here. Don’t click if you’re easily offended! My sense of humour has always been a bit left field & he is right up my alley 🙂
My point of explaining all that was – forget chocolate or cake or shoe shopping (yawn) or getting your hair done or going to a day spa, all those standard things we women think will miraculously make ourselves feel better: besides a good run, laughter really is the best medicine.
